Job Description:
Reporting direct to the Works Manager, the Inspector's principal job purpose will be that of ensuring the efficient inspection of manufactured micrometers, gauges and master setting rings. The role requires a quality focused approach to work with excellent attention to detail.

1. Follow Management instructions for the efficient delivery of responsibilities;
2. Inspection and calibration of the range of manufactured micrometers and gauges working to the standards set out in accordance with our UKAS accreditation, which includes the checking of aesthetic, functional and dimensional requirements specified for each type of gauge;
3. Calibration of master setting rings in accordance with our UKAS accreditation;
4. Communication with colleagues on any non-conformances on gauge performance;
5. Assuring the delivery to customers of a quality product;
6. Ensure safe operation of mechanical handling equipment, as required and only when trained to do so;
7. When operating mechanical handling equipment always comply with Company procedure / H&S guidelines;
8. Work efficiently and effectively as part of a team;
9. Maintain a clean and tidy workplace / working area;
10. Maintain high levels of Health & Safety at all times;
11. Adhere to all PPE / workwear requirements;
12. Achieve targets and job standards as set out by Management;
13. Flexible approach to tasks given in a busy working environment.

Additional Duties
§ Attend internal and external meetings and courses when required.
§ Perform other duties as maybe commensurate with the post which do not change the character or purpose of the post but which are necessary to maintain high standards of business practice as requested by the MD.
§ Ensure duties are carried out in accordance with the job description and all established Company policies and procedures. Understanding that the job description / associated policies and procedures may be altered from time to time to meet the changing needs of the Company.

Experience & Knowledge
§ Time served apprenticeship or equivalent qualification, ideally within Mechanical Engineering
§ Experience of working within an accredited quality control department
§ Good working knowledge of metrology hand tools and functions of typical use
§ Experience of working in a busy environment with varied work demands
§ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
§ Excellent timekeeping
§ Ability to follow instructions
§ Excellent level of accuracy and attention to detail
§ Good level of computer literacy with working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
